Population dustribution : how to import the area of dissemination?

Added by Pierre Jamagne almost 2 years ago

Hi,

I have a shapefile made of 31.000 statistical units covering Belgium and for each of them I have demographic attributes (total population, man and women) that I have to make compliant with the Population distribution schema. In order to bring my demographic data , I make a retype between this file and the ft Statistical distribution.

The first mandatory attribute that the target schema requests is the area of dissemination. The area of dissemination is a single polygon covering Belgium resulting from the dissolve of the 31.000 statistical units. This single polygon is contained in a second shapefile and not in the above mentioned shapefile.

How can import this single polygon covering Belgium in the gml containing the demographic data?
I tried to make a second retype between this shapefile and the ft Statistical distribution and then a matching between the geometry of my source and surface under area dissemination in the target but I get an error message. Does someone have a solution to bring the single polygon into the gml file?

Thank you

P Jamagne

Dear Pierre,

if your source dataset contains the single geometries of the population distribution data, you can use the HALE function "Merge" instead of "Retype". In this way you can then use the "Compute extent" function to calculate the extension of the source dataset.
See the screenshot as example.
